Dresse and Maere - Tennis Cup

The Dresse and Maere Tennis Cup is a fantastic event for the deaf community to come together, compete and meet and it would be both a great honour and a pleasure for our country to host the event.

Our considerable experience in organising major international sports events, our traditional hospitality and the prevailing sports spirit are the best guarantee that the Dresse and Maere Tennis Cup 2011 will be organised at the highest level.

It is our firm belief that friendship and co-operation through sports has enabled a more peaceful and prosperous co-existence between nations and we think this will be reflected with different deaf cultures coming together through sports events like these to strengthen the ties of the deaf community around the world regardless of where they come from.

On behalf of the Turkish Deaf Sport Federation, we take great pride in submitting our bid for the organisation of the Dresse and Maere Tennis Cup 2011.

Like many other cities in Turkey, Izmir’s roots stem from ancient times when it was known as Smyrna. It’s mix of historic sites such as the ancient city of Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary as well as it’s appeal as an ideal summer spot thanks to it’s location on the coast of the Aegean Sea make it a unique and well suited city to host the event; especially considering the fact that it is the third biggest city in Turkey therefore having a vibrant population, developed infastructure and links to a number of other major cities and countries. This means that in addition to taking part in the competition the players have trained to achieve their utmost, the attendants can also discover the city’s rich cultural heritage and enjoy it’s relaxed atmosphere whilst being in a truly diverse social format.

The General Directorate of Youth and Sports, the Governor of Izmir and the Mayor of Izmir, the Tennis Federation, and the Turkish Deaf Sports Federation have all supported the bid with tremendous passion and will be our main partners for the organisation.

Previously, Izmir has been the host to numerous important events in sporting and otherwise, including championship events for various sports. Izmir has plenty of sport facilities, equipment, manpower and more importantly public support to organize the World Deaf Tennis Cup. I believe that the location of our city, it’s easy access, the cooperation of all of the local public bodies, the dedication our team will put in organising the event will ensure it’s success should we be granted the exciting opportunity of hosting this wonderful event.

We look forward to seeing you at the Dresse and Maere Tennıs Cup, between 18 – 25 June 2011 in Izmir, Turkey

Yours sincerely,

2011 Dresse & Maere Tennis Cups Organizing Committee
