Ranking Guideline - Basketball
1. Event Selection and Point Value
The ranking system includes the following events, with corresponding weightings based on their importance:
- DLY: Summer Deaflympics - Basketball (Value: 5)
- WDBC: World Deaf Basketball Championships (Value: 5)
- AFDBC: Africa Deaf Basketball Championships (Value: 1)
- APDBC: Asia-Pacific Deaf Basketball Championships (Value: 2)
- AMDBC: Americas Deaf Basketball Championships (Value: 3)
- EDBC: European Deaf Basketball Championships (Value: 3)
2. Competition Ranking Scoring System
Points are awarded to the top 16 positions in each competition as follows:
- Gold: 50 points
- Silver: 40 points
- Bronze: 30 points
- 4th Place: 15 points
- 5th Place: 12 points
- 6th Place: 11 points
- 7th Place: 10 points
- 8th Place: 9 points
- 9th Place: 8 points
- 10th Place: 7 points
- 11th Place: 6 points
- 12th Place: 5 points
- 13th Place: 4 points
- 14th Place: 3 points
- 15th Place: 2 points
- 16th Place: 1 point
3. Ranking Calculation Cycle
The ranking is calculated over a 4-year cycle, aligned with the Summer Deaflympics, and includes qualifying competitions at the Regional Zone level. The timeline is as follows:
- Year 1: No competition included
- Year 2: World Deaf Basketball Championships
- Year 3: Regional Deaf Basketball Championships
- Year 4: Summer Deaflympics - Basketball
When a new championship is played, the oldest event in that category drops out of the calculation. Rankings are recalculated after each event to ensure accuracy and reflect recent performances.
