Frederick, MD, USA - Sergey TICHTCHENKO of Russia and Amanda GOYNE of USA have been selected as the 2003 WIDEX Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year by the 7 member CISS Selections Commission through electronic ballot, by earning 55 and 59 points respectively.

Sergey TichtchenkoSergey TICHTCHENKO, born 4 March 1970, has once again collected a total of 3 medals in nordic skiing for his country at the 2003 Deaflympic Winter Games in Sundsvall, Sweden. Two golds were for 15 km and 30 km and silver in 10 km.

Amanda Goyne Amanda GOYNE , born 7 December 1986, competed for USA in alpine skiing for the first time at the 2003 Deaflympic Winter Games in Sundsvall and brought home a total of 3 medals- a gold in Giant Slalom, a silver in Slalom, and a bronze in Parallel Slalom.
