Dawn, daughter of deaf parents, gained worldwide fame and publicity by competing as the lone deaf middleweight entrant on the national team of Canada at both World and Pan American championships held in the Philippines and Cuba. She is also an excellent volleyball, basketball and softball player for the Gallaudet University.
